Yes, driving in Turkey can be dangerous.   Turkey has a high traffic collision rate.  Istanbul and Ankara drivers are responsible for some the highest numbers of fatalities and incidents.  In Aug 2020, a TUI minibus which was transferring foreign travelers from the airport to their hotels, was suspected of causing an incident as a result of poor driving.

Many traffic incidents that happen abroad are traveling to or from the airport.  Whether it’s a result of driver complacency, lack of awareness or just poor driving standards, the risks are very real.
